A pair of these gears was fitted to 1-B-IV and run on dynamometer for 2 hours full torque, 1500 engine r.p.m. on 3rd, 2nd and 1st gears. The tests consisted, as for the original 10/41 gears, of 10 mins. full throttle and then five minutes to cool. During the run on 1st gear odd sized rear tyres were fitted to give the differential some work. The lubricant used was Wakefield's Hi-Press. No trouble was experienced and at the end of the test the gears were up to the original standard of quietness. Similar gears are fitted to 5-B-IV for 10,000 miles in France.
