CYLINDER BORE WEAR.

(1) Can we not open up hole in connecting rod on Bentley engines with tight skirt pistons?

(2) We must get blow-by figures for normal and tight point rings.

(3) We must get cylinder bore wear figures for 25/30 engines.

(4) How much oil do we have to release from the big end to get over tightening up on close-fit pistons? What is the consumption under these conditions?

(5) We should tabulate the rate of cyl. bore wear that we get on the various American engines that we have had and also get a figure for the Jaguar before it goes.

(6) We should get Buckle to supply any available figures on Vauxhall cyl. bore wear.

(7) We must persevere with our Cold Chamber analysis of cylinder bore wear. We want a summary of where we have got to so far on these particular tests.

(8) We want the cylinder bore wear on Lp{Mr Lappin}'s car and Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}'s car, Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}'. All these cars can be used for tests.

(9) Can we use tight skirt pistons on Lp{Mr Lappin}'s car with various types of top liner so that we can accelerate cylinder bore wear?

(10) Cannot we get a confirmatory test on the bed to show that the tight skirt pistons are worse than the previous type?

(11) Exactly what tests did we do on the engine in the Cold Chamber and exactly what results did we get? We should repeat a series when we get the supercharger fitted, which means we can get increased load on the engine each time we start up.

(12) Can we borrow a few Vauxhall cars that are about the Works, up to date, and have done considerable mileage, and ourselves check up on cylinder bore wear?

(13) Can we get Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to run some 25 H.P. Vauxhalls on transport work, so that we can observe their behaviour?
