To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} X5425 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rml/LG4.12.26. CROSS STEERING TUBE. X5430 We consider that it is extremely probable that a spring loaded cross steering tube to N.Sch.2201 will be used both for changeover work and as standard in place of the friction on the pivots. This should be a very much cheaper job than friction in the pivots and xx from our experience so far has shown us that it definitely gives better results. However this cross steering tube was originally designed to take up wear in the joints, and not to put load on the balls. We have therefore asked DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} to slightly modify it to give us what we require. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} | ||
