Referring to your R4/M18.6.27, following my visit to you I carefully considered what we could do to enable us to run experimentally as you suggested more tests on contact points in the most convenient way and to get the maximum running time efficiency. As a result of this, we have now nearly ready a geared drive rig upon which three independent battery ignition units will be run continuously day and night and at the weekends. This is the principal item to obtain at present as most of the suggestions for experiment have been completed during the last week or so and are ready for test.

The provision of this new drive will treble the output of life test results, enabling us to produce two 10,000 mile test results per week.

Tests with additional condenser capacity on platinum points have recently been completed. These results, which may be considered to show some improvement, are certainly not as good as we hope for. At present we have running platinum points with current automatically reversed four times per minute, and on the other rig, quicker break cam.

We will let you have our detailed reports on these results in due course.
