This is too small compared with previous neck

of .102"

Hence we adopt 26 slots each .186 by .536.

Oce at neck = 7.67"

1/26 of this = .295"

Slot = .186"

Neck = .109" which is slightly better

than before. As before (20 H.P. case) 24 slots give

a number of conductors less than 2/3 of the standard

number, viz. 288 against 456. 26 slots give 312

which is 312/456 = .684 of old number. This will be O.K.

owing to other improvements, space factor, neck etc.

It is proposed in first instance to try a retro.equi.

conductor-pitch winding of step 6 (1 to 7).

This will have no degree of short chording.
