P.2. Gearbox with S.M. 2nd.

RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} and Central Change Gear.

We send herewith N. Sch.3968 which shows the front half of the above gearbox.

In order to avoid any alteration to the clutch casing the sliders are nearer to the centre line of the car than the existing S.M. clutch cones on the top and 3rd will permit and consequently we have made a slight reduction (3%) of the diameter of these cones.

The bolting to the clutch casing is unaltered with the exception that no fitting bolts need be provided as the fit of ordinary clearance bolts will give all the accuracy that is required for the clutch shaft alignment.

It is intended that the same casing shall suit both R.H. and central change and as we have yet to go into the question of central change in detail we may have to make slight modifications to the casing to suit the central levers.
