Dear Mr. Robotham,

Thank you for your letter of the 26th August. I am glad to hear you hope to come up to Leyland before long.

I must thank you for the information you have passed on regarding the bearing metal you are using on the 'Bentley' car. We shall certainly take advantage of this and get into touch with Mr. Devereux to obtain further particulars.

We have only recently been investigating the possibility of using some material as an alternative to RR.56. Lead bronze has given satisfactory results, but at the present time it is difficult to obtain, and at all times has been expensive.

We have had reasonably good results recently from 'Satco' material running on case-hardened bearings, and we shall be continuing these experiments with a lower brinell figure.

Yours sincerely,

H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Spurrier. Jr{Mr James Royce}
