| (2) to the steering without having had definite experience of same. On the other hand if one new tyre only is fitted, the steering is 50% worse and gets practically in to a wobble. With two new tyres it is O.K. up to 60 M.P.H. as previously stated, above this speed one can feel the front tyres lugging at the steering. We are hoping that with the fitting of the new steering, this feature will also be cured. We shall of course test it with various conditions of tyres to substantiate our previous results. The car will be held up probably two or three days, as we wish to examine the clutch and a bad oil leak we are getting from the front end of the gearbox. At the same time we shall dismantle the rear shock damper to ascertain any wear. During yesterday's run, I very carefully listened to these dampers, but could not hear any sign of a knock. We have reduced the low pressure load to 100 lbs. I have done this because I thought the low speed riding might be considered harsh. You will appreciate that the work in hand is considerably for the men we have here, and if any delay is caused, you will realise the reason for it. The engine mounting has so far stayed put, and the car remains free from any objectionable booms. G.W.Hancock G.W.H. | ||
