Hop. et-Py. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} G---W. -o-Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} X4511 EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}6/H12.7.29. re. KING'S CUP RACE. F.XI. &S.27 With further reference to our previous reports in regard to the above, AP2/H8.7.29 and EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}2/H9.7.29, and my conversation with you yesterday. We have now got this engine back at the Works and put it straight on to the test bed without making any alterations. We ran the engine for about three quarters of an hour and it functioned quite satisfactorily. The H.P. on the test bed compared very favourably with the H.P. on the test of the engine prior to its despatch for the King's Cup Race. A loss of 4 H.P. only was recorded. There was no indication during the running that there was anything wrong with the engine. We have dismantled the reduction gear and blower for examination. All that has been found wrong is that two of the long bolts which hold the reduction gear case to the crankcase were broken in a similar manner to the breakage on the F.XIV. type test. This would in no way interfered with the running of the engine. ET GP. | ||
