The properties and potential use of a new steel compared to Silchrome.

in its finished form. Its co-efficient of expansion is 25% more than Silchrome whereas Silchrome X-8, 9 and 10 are 50% more than Silchrome.

We rather believe that this steel will have fairly wide use in the near future inasmuch as it has excellent resistance to corrosion, is harder than the austenitics and is very strong at high temperatures. Inasmuch as the cost of this steel is not prohibitive, it is at least likely that it will appear as standard equipment in one or two of the 1937 models.
