31.12.35.

At the body brackets which are under the sill, the large rubber dumb bell is used, but for those in the wheel arch and at the tail the smaller one is required.

It will be necessary to lift the body three or four inches to enable the body bracket to be drilled.

When the body is finally replaced we suggest that the rubber pads between the body and body bracket should be cemented both to the body and the bracket.

In the case of the fixing at the rear dumb iron it will be necessary not only to drill the body bracket but to drill and re-tap the 5/16ths. ins. plate which is embedded in the body to take the single central set screw.

We wish at the same time to reinstate the scuttle isolation. To do this all the existing bolts attaching the body to the dashboard are removed, when it will be found that the dash board is already prepared for the four scuttle isolation bolts. It will be necessary to enlarge the holes in the scuttle armature to take the scuttle isolation rubbers and also to remove the wood packing on the face of the scuttle, and to replace it by the four scuttle isolation washers embedded in a strip of Sorbo rubber after our normal practice.

On remounting the body we wish the attachment of the scuttle to the chassis frame of the dashboard to be left undone, although the brackets cannot be removed from the body. The distance pieces and bolts attaching the same to the frame can be left off.

We still wish to use the diagonal stays between the body rail at the base of the rear scuttle and the second cross member of the chassis.

Yours faithfully,

For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
