W/P. Sr. from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1245 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/R.21.12.36. CHASSIS B.8.GA.- PARIS TRIALS CAR. Replying to Sr/VA9/GM.18.12.36., the filter on the Bentley being on the suction side of the pump we dare not recommend a gauze of finer mesh, because if this gets choked up, supply to the main bearings will fail. We have to accept that a filter on the suction side will never be very efficient, and it is for this reason we are standardising an external filter on the pressure side as soon as we can.
