1369 To Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to C. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}5/KT.2.6.33. ALTERNATIVE WING DESIGN - BENTLEY. In view of the fact that 1.B.III will probably be running the next 10,000 miles in France in three weeks time, we think that the new wings, which were agreed upon at a recent conference, should be designed for the second Bentley, 2.B.IV., and not for the black car. We agree that since the second Bentley car is fitted with flared wings it will mean new running-boards, but this would give us an opportunity of producing a pair of the lightened type running-boards (of which the works are anxious to get a model), and which we hope eventually will be produced at Derby. There is one other advantage in using the green car - it will enable us to get an exact comparison of the aero dynamic advantages of each type of wing on the same car.
