X.3727. RE RADIATORS FOR 40/50 CHASSIS.
------

We have received 2 radiators which have been produced by the Works. The radiators are similar to those we are using on the standard chassis. They are made up of 7 mm tubes which were obtained from Greenwood & Batley's. The tubes are on an average .007" thick. The two radiators which we have received look a very excellent job. One can criticise the material from which the top tank has been made but the workmanship looks superior to that we received from outside. The only complaint we have against the radiators is that they are slightly heavier than the Marston.

The weight of the radiator made at the Works is 94 lbs.

The weight of the Marston radiator is 88 lbs. - this is 7 lbs. heavier than they were originally.

The weight of the R-R radiator made up of 64 lbs. for the matrix after soldering - top tank 12 1/2 lbs. bottom tank 12 lbs. There then has to be added the weight of the side plates and bonnet stripe. The matrix takes up 9 1/2 lbs. of solder when it is tinned.

There are altogether 6,730 tubes in the radiator.

So far no tubes have been found which are split. The only reason for scrapping the tubes was because of the varying lengths.

We are running one of these radiators on a car and find that it behaves equally as well as the Marston. We are also preparing to fit on to the Bump test.

We feel that we shall never be clear of radiator

Contd.
