The Managing Director 2. and an effortless application of the brakes is thereby achieved. In this way, an important saving of time in applying the brakes is effected - proving many times to be the decisive and redeeming factor in cases where accidents would otherwise occur. The writer himself has made repeated tests, both with his own small daughters and with other novices, who have never driven a Car before, with a Car fitted with the "Spontan" Patent Transmission. In every single case they have been able to take the Car right out on to the road to wherever they wish, with but a few minutes' training. It will be evident to you that the importance of this factor cannot be over-estimated. A driver, thoroughly proficient in dealing with an ordinary Car, adapts himself to this new method in but a few moments. This has been conclusively proved in practical tests, with a trained driver changing over from an ordinary Car to this new method, in congested traffic. If it happens, for instance, that sudden braking is called for, then it is quite a natural movement to release the gas-pedal to reach the brake-pedal. In the meantime, the Car has already stopped, and the driver will find no other brake-pedal. So it is clear that there is no danger in changing over from the one method to the other. From the point of danger, too, it is eminently satisfying to have the knowledge that should - in a moment of excitement - all operation be suspended, then with the "Spontan" application the Car automatically stops, because of its self-braking application. These are but few of the many points in favour of the "Spontan" Patent Transmission. May we have the pleasure of discussing this novel design with you, and of demonstrating it in practical application, to you? Such a demonstration can be arranged at any time to suit your convenience, on a "Fiat 503" Car that has been fitted with this application. For your Research Department we enclose a duplicate copy of this letter, because you will doubtless want them to become acquainted immediately with this interesting new development. | ||
