X3806 Expl: Dept: Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Hsl/LG18.1.29. X5840c Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, France. Mr. Hancock from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} We notice in your report on the 20 HP. you do not specifically mention the central oiling scheme. When I was at Chateauroux, you shewed me that some of the points on the rear spring shackles were not getting lubricated. I feel very worried about the central oiling scheme because we are definitely going to standardise it on both cars and if it goes wrong, we look as though we shall have no end of trouble. We do not want you to return the 20 HP. car to Derby until we are satisfied that the central oiling scheme is operating reliably. It is very difficult for us to do the work here because we cannot run sufficient mileage. The other point we are anxious about is the joints on the propeller shaft. With the American made joints of this type we ran 15,000 miles without adding any oil - they are still satisfactory. We are hoping that we shall be able to run at least 5,000 miles without adding oil. We should like you to work on this basis. We are expecting a report from you on the central lubrication generally on both cars. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
