OyS-W-S1428 -3- Cleaning of the filter is not necessary at these short intervals. Several new designs for 1924 have drain cocks actuated by con- venient handles inside the bonnet instead of the conventional plug. The Packard Eight retains the screwed plug but puts it at the side of the crankcase where it is easily reached. It does not drain the lowest point of the crankcase. Our own suggestion shown on attached sketches is for a rather large plug at the side of the bottom cover, accessible without getting under the car, draining a sump which could be syringed out with kerosene through the plug hole.
