To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} 654 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}8/AP.28.10.37. SKETCH P.D.39. Herewith a rough Experimental scheme for marking up a balancing cam on an existing Bentley engine. The whole object of the test is to see if the long leaf spring starts thrashing when it is hit by the cam at natural frequency. It is obviously unnecessary to grind the cam. If it functions satisfactorily it would merely be punched out of sheet metal for production. We should be glad if you would make the necessary parts and rig them up on a test bed engine.
