Dear Hickling,

We are contemplating altering the centre case of the Bentley back axle so as to get in a larger bearing which, without any doubt, will maintain a sufficient pre-load.

The one dimension we cannot alter is the bore of 30 m/m.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} We are wondering what will be the relative cost of a heavy type bearing with a 90 m/m outside diameter or a special bearing of 80 m/m outside diameter.

We presume that in either case you would recommend a 35% angle of contact on the thrust half.

Can you please send me as soon as possible the relative price and your views on which would be the better bearing. The maximum speed will still be 4500 R.P.M.

Yours sincerely,
