With reference to the Daily Report on the Wraith dated 22.2.38, it should be noted that when Waller talks about larger tyres he is not getting a 7.7. higher ratio because they are fitted to his existing wheels. He is getting about half this increase. We have sent out to him wheels and tyres which give him the effect of the higher axle ratio which we are recommending. With regard to rear engine mounting, we have now developed some pieces which we think will overcome his trouble, and these have been despatched. Referring to Daily Report dated 23.2.38, the design of the spring drive for distributor is now completed. The parts are being made. loss The exhaust valve clearance/may be due to the pre-ignition which was experienced when the distributor drive failed. In any case, we have run 45 hours on the Test Bed and the exhaust valves have been perfectly satisfactory. We are not, therefore, alarmed about the loss of clearance. With regard to servo jaggers, work done at Derby has already shown that these can be reduced. We are proposing to send Martindale over to France to see whether the cure is effective on the 15,000 mile car. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
