Dear Robotham, Speedometer No.Z.183 on Chassis No.3.B-50. Further to yours of the 6th September, Ref. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/ML, I have received a report from our Chief Engineer, Mr.Moss, the original of which I enclose herewith for your information and would ask you to be good enough to treat it as an inter-house note. I am assured that this particular instrument could not have functioned satisfactorily with the trip star spring set in the condition returned and for some reason someone has strengthened or tightened the spring since the Speedometer was originally supplied. From a careful examination of A.T. records trip troubles have disappeared since the last modifications were made. This experience is confirmed in the case of some hundreds of instruments supplied for use on balloon winches, also to such firms as Rover, Alvis and Lagonda. Regarding the suggestion that we make up half-a-dozen instruments, we do not appear to have any finished stock on hand and as doubtless you have the requisite quantity of standard | ||
