X.4383 DYNAMO COMMUTATOR. X. 4333

The Lucas Generator which we have fitted to one of the early Goshawk cars has given trouble on several occasions with the solder fixing the wires to the commutator bars melting, the wires flying out.

Although we have not seen any signs of the solder melting on the RR Generators, one would expect that there is very little margin. From the tests we have been able to carry out, we believe that the trouble with the solder melting was greatly improved if we ran without the cover off the commutator. It might be worth while trying some ventilation in the end cover.
