With reference to Mr. Wormald's memo, I am sorry if Mr. Wormald thinks I wish to lay any blame on the works for not adopting my suggestions. This was not meant to be so.

What I wish to convey is that the works do not think it was necessary to adopt the suggestions made from LeCandel of bonding the tanks to the matrix, They had the impression that the round type which had not this bonding, was sufficiently strong for any purpose. I was glad to agree to this, [handwritten insertion: because this type was lighter than the square tube type,] it was the lightest radiator that we have, so far, found satisfactory.

I think, however, that the bonding can be applied to this type also, If we continue to act as described in Mr. Wormald's memo, we shall find out what is necessary for the [handwritten insertion: revised] conditions under which the cars are run. I think, therefore, that we had better send the round [handwritten insertion: tube] type out without the bonding, [underlined: unless we can see the possibility of adopting the bonding universallywhich I should prefer.]
