X3807 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}3/MA. 14th May, 1934. The Ransome & Marles Bearing Co., Newark-on-Trent. For the attention of Mr.Hickling. Dear Sir, We thank you for ringing up about the 500 hours test on the 4 MD30 bearing. With regard to what you say about the behaviour of the Whitmores oil we anticipate a similar separation of the suspended part when using Wakefield's Sulphur oil. It would be interesting therefore to hear of any tests on hypoid axles of the Duckham's oil you say has proved satisfactory from the bearing point of view. If this oil has extreme pressure lubricating properties and does not separate out it is not improbable that Gleason's would test it. If they passed it as suitable for hypoids we should have no hesitation in using it. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
