Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd.
Derby.

Attention Mr. W.A. Robotham.

Dear Sir,

I thank you for your letter of the 17th. inst. which was not promptly replied to owing to the writer being indisposed with "flue".

It would appear that you read my letter of the 14th. as an invitation to take an interest in my Patents. This is not so. What I ask to be allowed to do, is to supply you with a set of wheels which, without any alteration to your present hubs for you to try out, and, for you to judge whether the principle may be an improvement to your Car.

I know what I am up against. I know the Car is acknowleged to be the world's best. I know the fallacy of trying to "paint the Lily", and realizing all this, I may say, that, as one Engineer to another you will appreciate the merit of cushioned energy when you try it. I am not seeking advertisement. The matter can be sacredly confidential between us, and if you send me drawings to assist me they will not be allowed, under any circumstances, to go out of my possession, nor will any outside influence know of the privilage you grant to me. They will be your property and returnable on request.

Yours Faithfully,

Fred W Baker
