We have so far had three direct cases where people have preferred to buy Phantoms and have definitely placed their orders, after having had - immediately before, demonstrations given them on the new Daimler Double-Six.
These people are: - Mr. Hay of the Piccadilly Hotel, Mr. Sidney of Hampstead and Mr. and Mrs Watson who yesterday placed an order with us for a Phantom, through Hooper's, whose clients they were, after having a run in our Saloon Phantom to Sunninghill immediately subsequent to trying a the Daimler Double Six.

It appears that whilst everybody is greatly interested in the abnormally large acceleration of the new Daimler Car, and would probably be quite contented with the Car in the absence of something better, immediately they are given a run in a Phantom, they realise that, with our Car, there is an absence of engine fuss, crankshaft thrash and also our springing has given more satisfaction. Coupled with this, of course, is the fact of the very high cost of lubricating oil and fuel per mile run which our competitor appears to be suffering from, ungetatability of engine parts, and definitely greater weight of chassis, which all combine to take some of the gilt off the gingerbread.
