SECRET. 1300 To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} c. to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}6/JH.28.12.39. re Centre Steering Lever Support Bent front Pan. We have investigated the failure of the top support plate for the centre steering lever on 30.G.7. piece number FW.1829. On PL.81 a print of which is enclosed herewith (Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'s copy) we shew the original design, the piece as made for 30.G.7. and our proposed new piece for both left hand and right hand cars. It will seem that the piece on 30.G.7. does not conform to the detail presumably due to the inaccuracies in shape of the hand made bent front pan, but one cannot safely say this may have contributed to its failure. Should you desire to make a replacement piece to the new design for 30.G.7. it will be necessary to allow for this. On the new design we have avoided the wing like tabs of the attachment and have increased the thickness to .125". Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
