X8230 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from BJ. BJ1/H5.10.25. "NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I" EXHAUST SYSTEM. I attach a copy of Rl/M2.10.25. We presume this latest silencer is being tested on the 10,000 miles test in France so that a standardisation sheet may be prepared. We further now have to consider whether it is desirable for us immediately to instruct that all silencers from now onwards should be made to this latest pattern whilst the 10,000 miles is proceeding. Do you and By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} consider there is much risk in doing so, or are you practically confident that this new silencer is not likely to be adversely affected by the 10,000 miles test and is not likely adversely to affect the engine or any other part of the chassis. Of course we are anxious to deliver all the present noisy standard exhaust as soon as possible. B.J. | ||
