To BM. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to CL. " " WH L " " EFC. " " DM.{D. Munro} RECEIVED MAY 2 1919 ORIGINAL. x.3546. E1/G28/4/19. 2 RE 40/50 H.P. CHASSIS CLUTCH BRAKE. We send you herewith drawing Lec.1079 shewing some modifications to the above. Mr. Royce had occasion recently to adjust the clutch brake on chassis 7 CA, and found that the arrangement fitted thereto was somewhat incomprehensible and inaccessible. The attached design has therefore been made to his instructions with a view to doing away with some of the disadvantages of the scheme on 7 CA, and incidentally at the same time, to obtain a considerable reduction in weight. It will be noted that instead of the complicated looking bracket at present in use, the device is anchored to the tubular cross member by a simple ball socket. It will be obvious to anybody about to make adjustments that the long shank of the fork on the rod is intended for adjusting the position of the pad, the knurled collar being provided for twisting the rod in the fork. It should again be apparent that the spring load can be adjusted by the double nuts on the end of the rod. When the clutch is held open by a person sitting in the driver's seat, with the footboards not on the car, he is able to see how far the clutch brake is in operation by the distance between the knurled collar and the end of the guide. An aluminium box bracket is provided, held by two 2 BA bolts, in place of the rather heavy gun metal affair previously supplied (Contd.) | ||
