A number of experiments were therefore carried out and finally an experimental coil and ballast resistance was produced which gave extremely satisfactory results the performance being better than the Delco-Remy at high speeds with the secondary unloaded. With one megohm load the Delco is slightly better but against this we found the current consumption of the Delco to be higher.

We do not want to increase the current loading of our contact points to the extent Delco's have as it must reduce the life of the contacts.

We attach curves shewing the performance with speed of the Ultra high speed Delco coil, the new experimental R.R. coil and ballast and our present standard coil and ballast. The hump on the Delco curves indicates the operation of the vibrator.

It is considered that this new arrangement of coil and ballast will enable us to run only two coils on the SpectreCodename for Phantom III instead of four.

We are carrying out further endurance tests with this new arrangement to ascertain its factor of reliability.
