R- INSTRUCTS COLOUR FOR HIS NEW PARK WARD BODY FOR 6 EX ORIGINAL To C. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to CJ. " " SP.{Mr Spinney} " " HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} RB{R. Bowen}/D/7/20. 2 AUG 1920 RECEIVED X3923 RE CAR 6 EX. We choose the Admiralty or battleship grey for this car. The shade of PN{Mr Northey}'s open trials car would please me. If the grey is dark as PN{Mr Northey}'s, which seems preferable, the whole can be one colour instead of grey and black. The grey should not be a blue-grey, or pink-grey, or green grey, as is sometimes used, but just a black and white grey. With regard to the hood, one thinks that a grey would be best for a grey car, but possibly if the car is a very dark grey, black would be used for the hood, as some shades of grey materials are very poor.
