Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Experimental Dept., DERBY. BRANCHES: LONDON LIVERPOOL LEEDS MANCHESTER CARDIFF BIRMINGHAM BELFAST GLASGOW JOHANNESBURG Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. I.A. Leslie. We thank you for your letter of the 17th instant with reference to "Gaco" Petrol Pump diaphragm material, and special gasket material. We are sending you a small sample of thin, solid "Gaco" diaphragm material. If you could let us have a Drawing of one of your diaphragms, or the dimensions thereof, we will be very glad to supply sufficient material for test. The diaphragm material, fabric impregnated with "Gaco" on both sides, will be available in the early part of January when we will forward you a sample. We have not yet received the material for the gasket, your Drg. R.S.228, but hope to be able to let you have this before the New Year, or shortly after, which we trust will be convenient to you. We are sending you herewith a sample of solid walled "Gaco" Tubing suitable for oil up to 350° F.{Mr Friese}, and for use in connection with fuels. While minerial oils do not produce any effect on "Gaco", some fuels, particularly those containing benzol, will produce a slight swelling, but no solvent action takes place which would render the material "cheesy", the strength being unimpaired. "Gaco" Tubing has been found very satisfactory for fuels as the slight swelling is unimportant for this purpose. The Tubing can be supplied in various dimensions, or braided with cotton or wire, as well as re-inforced for high pressure applications. Compared with other oil and fuel resisting Tubing of the built-up or metallic types, "Gaco" has the advantage of high uniformity, flexibility and freedom from weak spots unavoidable in the built up types. | ||
