Ph.II Shock Damper Initial Loads.

We recently experienced a case where a customer had driven his Continental car (70-BK{A. Birkett - Commercial Manager}) from London to Paris with only 30 lbs. load on his dampers. Having tried the car under these conditions we are astonished that the customer could endure such a run.

The trouble was due to loss of oil in the control system owing to a union being loose on a shock damper elbow. The car had previously been into Cricklewood on two occasions to overcome failures in the shock damper control system.

In view of this unpleasant experience it will be necessary to raise the initial load to 80 lbs. front and rear for Continental sprung cars.

We are issuing a Standardisation Sheet to cover this modification.
