EXHAUST MANIFOLDS IN STAYBRITE STEEL.

Please note that we have received a letter from Messrs Short Bros. in which they point out that owing to the delay which occurred in obtaining the manifolds, they have produced some manifolds themselves in Staybrite steel. They say the manifolds in question are practically complete, and appear to be a good job. They are quite satisfied with what they have done, and have no further interest in us supplying a set of the parts in question. The right attitude to adopt would therefore appear now to be to hold the manifolds for the present, and await a reply to our letter of the 3rd inst. to the Air Ministry.

We have again written the Air Ministry with reference to the contract they promised us, to produce three sets of pipes experimentally in various materials, our object being to cover the cost of the Staybrite pipes that have been made to try out the quality of the welding etc. and the durability of Staybrite material under actual running conditions.

We anticipate obtaining a contract and receiving instructions for the disposal of the manifolds.
