-13- large resistance would be left on the field circuit and the dynamo may sometimes not be charging at all, i.e. not below the cutting in speed which is considerably higher than normal. The required conditions will thus, we hope, be attained electrically. We see no particular advantage in attempting to make this resistance so high that the dynamo will never cut in and we think also that it would add further difficulties to the problem. We are proceeding with bench experiments on the lines indicated. In regard to the experiments on the chassis we propose to make a further trial of (1) The Mentor thermally operated unit, arranged as a four terminal device, and to operate on the water temperature lamp. (2) The electro-magnetic relay (green lamp unit) also to operate in conjunction with the water temperature lamp (just for the experiment at any rate, and additional green lamp could afterwards be provided without affecting the experiment, should there be any question of standardising this unit). (3) The auto switch arranged on the lines referred to. EFC. | ||
