The new radiator matrix has been fitted and the damaged unit returned to Derby. We had to modify the strap to suit the different shaped bottom tank. The castellated nuts on the bolts in the rear damper arm silentblocs have been fouling the nuts on the spring bolts. We have overcome the trouble by reversing the bolts in the silentblocs, so the nuts are now towards the centre of the car. The heads of the bolts are flat enough to clear. It should be ascertained whether the mistake was in the drawing or the fitting. The drain holes in the end plates of the axle tubes do not work. The surplus oil is finding its way instead onto the brakes. It appears to creep along the outside of the bearing housing and then drip off. The brake linings have a little oil on them but it has not affected the braking. The quantity escaped is equal at both ends of the axle. Oil is also weeping out past the rivets which attach the spring brackets to the axle tubes. The rivets adjacent to the carrier plates are the ones effected, and the quantity is also equal at both ends of the axle. Oil is leaking from both the lower yoke needle bearings. Will you please let us know what size bijur feed is used for the equivalent bearings on Wraith. --------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} Franklin.
