Dear Sirs, We beg to thank you for your esteemed favour of the 4th instant, reference BJ/Py7/MLT/4820., and very much appreciate the opportunity afforded us of submitting samples of Gargoyle Mobiloils for testing on Rolls-Royce engines at your works. We note that you request us to forward one two-gallon tin of suitable oil, but we have taken the liberty of forwarding a two-gallon sample each of Gargoyle Mobiloils A.{Mr Adams}, B and BB for the reason that, in the absence of technical details of the Rolls-Royce chassis, we are unfortunately unable to put forward any one of the three grades with the certainty that it would be more suitable than another. It is probable that you may find one grade give better results than another during the summer months. In order to demonstrate to you that this matter is treated seriously by us, we attach hereto one of our engineer's inspection report forms which are used by manufacturers to furnish us with the required details for determining the correct lubrication of their chassis. Such information, of course, is treated in strict confidence and is required solely for the purpose named above. We have dealt with this matter at some length in the hope that you will see your way to arrange for all three grades to be tested on your engines. With regard to gear lubrication, we believe that it is your practice to recommend an oil for the gears similar to that used in the engine and we should appreciate your testing our oils in your gears in order that when tests have been completed, we shall know definitely which of our grades are most suitable for MANUFACTURING PLANTS, WANDSWORTH, LONDON.
