E.4.P. which has been returned from the above chassis, and find that the solder has melted at the Commutator joints, the trouble has been caused by someone moving the control brush in order to increase the output of the machine. These machines will not stand a higher output than 11 1/2 or 12 amps at 18 volts, and if the brushes are adjusted to give more than that the machine will most certainly burn out. I understand that Messrs. Heath, Birmingham, have been attending to this dynamo, and it is through them that the trouble has arisen. It would appear that Mrs. Cadbury wants a bit more output from her dynamo. May I suggest that we trail the poles of this machine and adjust it as high as possible and exchange it for the one she has at present. Although we may not get a much higher output at the peak there will be an appreciable difference on higher speeds. I am holding this job up until I hear from BY.{R.W.
