111th Meeting Jan. 17th.11. Cone Clutches (Contd) (7) Re Woven covering for standard clutches. Mr Barrington brought this matter before the Committee as it was one of the points which Mr Royce had mentioned several times as being important. Mr Platford reported that he had on test, a clutch cone with woven covering, but the fabric had been treated by the manufacturers, and he had found it to be unsatisfactory; the preparation in the fabric became sticky when the clutch warmed up, and the cone consequently jambed in and would not disengage. Mr Platford was of the opinion that we should obtain other material, and he thought this experiment had been delayed by lack of material. Mr Nadin informed the Committee that he was not aware that the Committee had decided to obtain any further information material than that which was at present on test, and suggested that this material should be warmed up and the sticky preparation scraped off or otherwise removed. Mr Barrington suggested that we should obtain immediately, a further supply of material which had not been treated in this manner.
