For the attention of Mr G.H. Grylls.

Dear Sir,

Mr Healey has asked us to reply to your letter of the 12th instant.

We shall be very pleased to help you further and carry the experiments on rim width a step further. We propose making tests on 6.00-16 Fort 6 ply tyres on 5.50, 5.00, 4.50, 4.00 and possibly 3.50 rims.

We have chosen this size on which to make the tests because we have a larger range of rims in the 16" diameter than the 18". We think, however, that tests in the 6.00-16 size will be applicable to the 6.00-18 and 7.00-18 six-ply tyres which you use, and will enable us to decide whether there is an optimum rim width or not.

We have not made any tests on the 5.00-18 Phantom III rims, but will try to do so on the completion of the tests we are now starting. We will let you have the results of these tests as soon as possible, but it will be some little time as we have to have special wheels made.

Yours faithfully,
For The DUNLOP RUBBER CO. LTD.
