| X8774 10-EX CAR. The further modifications which we should like to carry out on this car to complete it are :- (1) Undershield to be fitted extending from slightly forward of the present undershield to as near the rear axle as practicable. General outline N.Sch. 2307. Tie rods removed - lubrication made accessible. (2) Heat shield on rear expansion chamber. (3) Heat shield for autovac. We should also like to try one on the rear exhaust manifold as alternative. (4) Front lamp brackets machined to drg. section and lightened. Possibly they could be drilled and plugged with alum. afterwards being close plated which would improve the appearance. (5) Steering column support improved as per attached sketch (bits off 98-NK) (6) Steering worm and nut sticks still on lock slightly when warm and requires attention. Gland should be retained on steering shaft. (7) Pivot bearings etc. made 100%. (8) Front springs altered to 1050 and 1100 or if these are not available, nearest to them. Hydraulic damper load altered to 40 lbs. up - 40 lbs. down. (9) New 3rd. gear for box. (10) Instrument board removed and polished instead of varnishing. Engine modifications to be incorporated when new camshaft available. (1) Present magnesium pistons changed for alum. pedestal. (Packing pieces to be retained). (2) New camshaft. | ||
