Y5840. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Copy to PN.{Mr Northey} re 10,000 Miles Tests. SG{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}35/E29.9.31 As the result of your recommendation, I agreed that these should be extended to 15,000 miles. Under the former arrangement of 10,000 miles, the practice has been in force for some years that the car was handed over to Sales at 9,000 miles so that they ran it the last 1,000 miles. Soon after I came back from my holiday, PN{Mr Northey} spoke to me about taking over 19-G-4 and told me he was going to get in touch with you on the subject. I had assumed that arrangements had been made for the car to be handed over to Sales at 14,000 miles, and in response to PN{Mr Northey}'s enquiry at that date I expressed the view that I did not think it was necessary for any Sales officials to go to France but that the car should be brought to England. I notice from the reports that the mileage has already reached about 15,000 miles, and I should like to know why this is so, i.e. why the old arrangement has not been carried out in this instance.
