R.{Sir Henry Royce} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} SECRET E5/M14.3.31. X8010 C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Japan 3. Crankshaft Damper & Engine Suspension. x.5010. X.5005. Please find prints of LeC. 2887. and 2888., shewing some proposals for the above. We have not worked out the suspension proposals in all cases to a conclusion but we know enough to say that a tubular cross member demands that the radiator shall be further forward than the scheme shewn in LeC. 2888. The chief object in these schemes is to fix up the details of the crankcase and suspension brackets. We have assumed it is necessary to be able to remove the fan belt, withdraw the slipper flywheel, and drop the lower half of crankcase without much trouble. Torque reaction dampers will be shewn on a later drawing. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
