Car overheating issues and proposing comparative tests with louvred bonnets and different shutter configurations.

With reference to the enclosed memorandum from H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} concerning his overheating experience on La{L. A. Archer} Turbie, I think it would be as well if the present car, which is going through its distance trials in France, could, before completing the distance, be driven to the south of France and try tried on some of the big ascents there.

This would be a good opportunity of ascertaining to what extent the louvred bonnet reduces the inclination to overheat the water.

In fact comparative tests could be made with a bonnet without louvres and a bonnet with louvres.

There are of course good opportunities of trying the car on the hills between Grasse and Grenoble.

Of course, all reasons for secrecy in connection with this car have now vanished.

It should certainly be tried on the Turbie hill referred to by H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints}

Please read the recent letter from Dalgety's concerning the experiments they have made in Australia.

We should like to know what is the effect of closed forward shutters with one back shutter open, closed forward shutters with both back shutters open and, in fact, we should like comparative tests of every possible combination of ventilation.

Early appear opportunities should be taken of making experiments with the Silver Ghost type, many hundreds of which have been issued and in connection with which we expect to have a large number of overheated complaints.
