x4707 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}2/T24.5.34. 8 CYLINDER GRAHAM PAGE. Here is my impression of the above after a 50 mile run. Good car all round, with excellent top gear performance. Engine mounting not so good as the 6 Cylinder Terraplane for isolation of engine vibration. The Supercharger is remarkably quiet. Valve mechanism quiet. Engine gears rather noisy and uneven at low speeds. The suspension is good giving a comfortable ride. Steering and controlability good. There is rather a lot of "backlash" at steering wheel. Brakes are poor and not in keeping with the performance of the car. The speedometer is obviously reading fast - although I did not check it, I thought it about 15% fast, particularly at the higher speeds. The front of the car is very steady, there is no sign of "jellying" Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} [signature] | ||
