Dear Mr. Cowen,

I have just returned from France and I feel sure you will be pleased to know I won the Picardy Grand Prix at Peronne last Sunday.

This is the first time I have had my new 4 1/2 litre Bentley in France and I gave the car some very hard driving over the French roads - As a result of this I should now like to confirm my original opinion that the rear suspension of the car is definitely not so good as on my previous Bentley. The rear suspension seems to "kick" badly over bumps and it really is uncomfortable in the rear seats in this car at speed over a bumpy road - Not only is it noticed in the rear seats, but you also feel this when sitting in the front of the car. The damp control does not seem to have the same effect as on my last car and instead of ~~hardening~~ the car down over the bumps it seems to increase the "kick" which really does jolt one's spine.

Some little time ago I mentioned the matter of the rear suspension to [obscured] Grylls, but now I have had the car in France I am convinced my opinion is right and I should like Derby to have the car some time to change the
