R.R. 300 (6B) (XX, 847. 29.5.13) E.P. 4342. ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. INSTRUCTIONS. To: O.C. Copy & Parker 84/U Order No. Customer's No. Re. Modulus of Elasticity (E) for road springs. In connection with the calculations for the design of these springs we are requiring a reliable figure for E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Please make the following experiment to supply the necessary data to find E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Take a long spring plate, the flatter the better, supported at the ends and loaded in the centre + get out tables of values as shown below. Select plate + loads at discretion. 1st Experiment Load | Deflection at centre | length of span L | -if it varies 100 lb | .801 | 42 200 lb | 1.602 | 42.2 300 - | 2.403 | 42.1 400 - etc | 3.204 | 42 2nd Experiment A different plate Load | Deflection | L Similar to suit plate. Urgent. Signed: Mory This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work. Side Note: X9/0 Stamps: RECEIVED, APR 1 | ||
