MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COACHWORK SUB COMMITTEE

HELD ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 23rd, 1934.

PRESENT: C. (In the Chair)
Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}
EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}
Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}
Tr.{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}

1. Minutes of last Meeting (26.1.34). These were read and confirmed.

2. TOOL ACCOMMODATION.
It was reported that, as an alternative to the accommodation below the bonnet of the road wheel tools, they are on some cars now being stored in a box built into the valance; on others - where the steering column is in a moderately upright position - in the box below the front seat; on others in the luggage container. It was appreciated that the ideal would be to find a scheme which could be applied to all types of cars but, without the co-operation of the Design Dept., this is difficult.

EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} mentioned that E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} has proposed that accommodation be provided in a metal box which would take the place of the existing rearmost cross tube of the chassis. He is of the opinion that it would be possible to design a box which would satisfactorily combine the duties of the cross tube and provide accommodation for all the tools now carried. He is investigating the idea further.

Of course, even if it is eventually adopted it will be necessary for the Coachbuilders to provide the accommodation needed in the meantime, and this must of necessity vary to some extent, according to the type of body

3. LUGGAGE GRIDS
EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} mentioned that samples of the R-R concealed grid will shortly be tried out and that in the meantime he had received from Park Wards a detailed drawing of their arrangement which he suggested is mechanically unsound.
