C O P Y. To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}5/ES.18.7.41. FUTURE CAR DESIGN. Your Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}5/KW.23.6.41 to Tr.{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance} and its attachment were handed to me, together with copies of the earlier correspondence on the same matter. I have discussed with Mr. Ward the contents of Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/RH.{R. Hollingworth}19.6.41, a copy of which was attached to your memo Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}5/KW.23.6.41, and as a result would like to submit the following 1 - Air Conditioning: It is agreed P.W. & Co. lack facilities to tackle this job, which seems more a matter for the chassis manufacturers. 2 - Lightened Body on B.V: P.& W. have agreed with Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} to produce a lightened body of the standard design for the B.V chassis. 3 - Corniche: The Corniche framework sent from Paris was badly wrecked when Lillie Hall was bombed and is now in small pieces and useless. 4 - Coupe for Myth: P.W. have agreed with Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} that as the opportunity occurs, they will try to design a coupe which can be produced cheaply. 5 - Drawings for Rationalised Production: It is regretted that Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} should apparently consider P.W. are making slow progress with these, as since the Meeting in your office at W. on the 4th March last, they have been given all possible attention. Incidentally, Mr. Green, when at Willesden, seemed to be surprised at the progress made. 6 - B-V Coupe: P.W. hope to tackle the building of a coupe body incorporating the modifications intended to reduce front movement, when they have completed the lightened body for a B.V chassis. Under existing conditions, however, it is quite impossible to deal with both bodies simultaneously. 7 - Myth Parts: It is gratifying to learn P.W. have not been unsuccessful [strikethrough]so far with the Myth parts. of course, there is nothing in these[/strikethrough] items to help P.W. swell their overheads to their benefit, which is the point I discussed some three months back with Tr.{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance} We are doing what we can in this direction, but it is, unfortunately, very little. Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} | ||
