FABRIC COUPLINGS. ----------------- We should like to know whether the fabric couplings are standing up on cars that are used for high speed continental work. Our experience has been that the little screws which hold the plates on the coupling fracture, and then the coupling rapidly disintegrates. If you consider that the coupling life is unsatisfactory, we have one or two other schemes which have given better results on testing rig, but we want to make certain that the present arrangement is unsatisfactory before we press for their adoption.
